Back to Poetry Back to Sipsydoodle!

aftermath

It wasn’t so much the
demise of the science
of numbers
the meshes of fractions
symbols, therums and
rules…

It was the way
nothing could reduce
or end in a definitive
moment, a period, or
decimal

No quantitative term
could hold the worth
of any one person
thing, want, or
moment–

It was the way the
need to number
died; the way
computers stopped

Even language as
a math, or math
as a language
became unwritten

eventually unread
